    Windows Firewall major issue

Hello, guys. So today I got message on my PC saying that my Windows firewall is off. I tried every possible solution that I could find to no avail. Also, when I type services.msc, I can't find Windows firewall service at all, I can only find Windows defender service but I can't perform any actions on it, it just gives me "system cannot find the file specified" error. I couldn't even access services until I did some registry tweaks, which is weird because I remember not having that issue before. When I try to troubleshoot the issue, it gives me "a problem is preventing troubleshooting from starting" with error 0x80070057.

I should also mention that I have issues with Malwarebytes real-time web protection, which I cannot turn on anymore; all the other layers are turned on, though. I will try to fix this issue later by doing a clean reinstall of the app.

I feel like I have no real admin privileges because when I turned off Malwarebytes to check windows defender, I got a message saying "the security of your system is managed by your organization". I fixed this by doing some registry tweaks, but it seems super weird to me because I'm the owner of the license and also the only user.

I would really appreciate if someone could guide me on how to fix this, and how to gain full control over my PC and its security.

    I have Windows 1, version 1909, build 18363.900

Hi, my guess is you've over-tweaked your system.

"the security of your system is managed by your organization"
Many ask about this- simply means some registry key or keys equivalent to a group policy setting have been changed from default.

You might have some luck if you use Tweaking.com's free repair tool, observing its guided steps, and selecting only repairs that look relevant (e.g. services to default, restoring important services). (Google).

Otherwise you might need to try an in-place upgrade repair install with an iso file (or even a bootable disk) for your current build - this keeps all progs and data.

    Tutorial available if needed.

Recommended to protect you and your PC from problems and even your own errors, time and again here, so you have a second chance without seeking help: the routine use of disk imaging. E.g. Macrium Reflect (free). Saves you even if your disk fails.

All the above assumes your hardware is sound- have you checked your disk recently- e.g. SMART parameters - 3rd party free tool?

My hardware is pretty sound, everything other than this works just fine. Im gonna try all the methods but I really doubt those will help.

So you're saying that I can basically reinstall the whole OS without losing my apps and my data?

Yes. Common approach. It uses the same method as a feature update (upgrade). You don't expect to lose programs and data when upgrading, do you?
    See:
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade
where it reiterates what I said (I asked for that to be added as it's so often doubted, which is why I always say it in bold).

That's great. I suppose one could format and use sd card instead?

Thank you, @dalchina! I managed to fix it by using Tweaking.com's repair tool. I did had to buy the full version but it was only around 20 bucks and it fixed the problem so... I got so frustrated, I couldn't even repair system with the media creation tool, I did try but it stuck on 0%. I then tried to achieve the same result with Rufus but I couldn't find my exact version. All in all, I guess I'm lucky. Thanks again for taking some time to reply to my thread, you saved my day.

I couldn't find my exact version.
    - as you have 1909, you normally just need an earlier version of 1909. (A later version of 1909 should work too).

FYI- getting an older iso build- Rufus is one means of creating a bootable disk and has nothing to do with finding an iso version.

From the in-place upgrade repair tutorial, see:

4 To Do a Repair Install of Windows 10 with an ISO file

    A) If you have not already, you will need to download a Windows 10 ISO file.
    That link takes you here:
    Download Windows 10 ISO File

    and in that tutorial see
Option Six: Download Older Windows 10 Home, Pro, or Education ISO from Microsoft via "Windows ISO Downloader" tool by HeiDoc.net

which Brink has recently been persuaded to include- reluctantly because of the pop-up ad shown by the tool.

What you report might mean you have future problems with upgrades, but perhaps you'll be lucky now you've applied some repairs. Check Windows Update works.

If all is well, start using disk imaging- before something else breaks. Macrium reflect (free) is often recommended.

Yesterday when I was checking if I have an update pending, there was a message under the check for updates button saying "there's a new feature update but your computer is not ready". Now that message is gone and there aren't any updates for me.

Quick question. What exactly should I do with Macrium reflect, it looks to me that this app is used for backing up the whole drive

    No.

Notice the ticks under the partitions?

and look at the text under Backup Tasks on the left.

Plenty of youtube guides, a huge help manual and a couple of basic tutorials here.

    - you could argue you don't need to be informed your computer isn't ready (which is MS's seemingly arrogant way of saying 'our O/S can't cope with some aspect of your PC).

Ok, once again thank you for all the support. Live long and prosper
