Hi I think its because you are running a third party anti virus software and not using windows defender. it wants you to turn that on but you cant when your using a third party av

It would seem like Windows Security cannot verify whether Kaspersky is actually configured properly or not. Your antivirus solution 'talks' with Windows Security, especially when it's doing things that are important. It will also communicate with Windows Security if protection features are disabled, restricted, settings have been changed in general, updates are required etc. It could also be a corrupted installation but these are fairly rare and when it happens it's usually the user at fault for interfering with the installation process. It could also be a case of you already have an infection on your computer and it disabling certain features within Kaspersky. This like the other scenario is pretty slim but it's not out of the question. If the antivirus cannot implement it's self-protection features or if they can be disabled fairly easily it can happen.

Have you checked Kaspersky to see whether there are any notifications? Have you updated recently? Are the core features enabled ie virus protection, real-time protection, firewall etc? It may be possible certain elements are not enabled or their settings need adjusting. In most cases its a simple fix, you just have to follow what Kaspersky is saying/asking/telling you to do. Most of the time you just have to enable protection features and then when you do Windows Security go silent.

How long have you had Kaspersky for? Have you even restarted your computer since installation? Your computer has to restart in order for Kaspersky to integrate properly into your system.

    Have you tried re-installing?

Have you configured Windows Security to stop monitoring? You can let it know you are using another antivirus solution and it will decrease it's notifications.

I stopped using KIS after my UK bank stopped providing a free licence due to security concerns. I just use Defender now which is fine and much simpler to configure.

It was never proven Kaspersky were to blame for anything. Someone got information stolen from them who worked in the government and with top secret information. But this person took this information outside of his place of work which is against the rules as we know with Edward Snowden and everyone else who did the same thing. And from then onwards this information was stolen. The link was made between this information being stolen and Kaspersky software on this person's computer.

This is what the news articles say. Never was ever proven Kaspersky were involved other than their software being exploited. That's like blaming a woman who is completely wasted for being sexually assaulted. You are taking 5+5 and making 100. It's obvious where the actual blame lies even if the woman was drunk.

I'm using KIS too and have no problems. Check to make sure the license is current and that your machine is registered/recognised in your Kaspersky web portal ("My Kaspersky account" - open KIS, bottom rh corner, small print > My Kaspersky > Go to My Kaspersky)

Failing that, uninstall and re-install KIS to see if it changes the settings to enable it to "take over" from Defender.

    - I'm using KIS since a long time more than 5 years but I don't remember when the problem started.
    - Yes, I restarted my PC many times.
    - All the features are on unless Anti-banner and my license is in effect and the KIS download the updates every day.
Yesterday after reinstall LIS, I got just one notification in the day.

Usually when this happens the antivirus installation has become corrupted somehow. Reinstalling it usually fixes the issues. Failing that it could be down to your computer being infected and whatever is on there disabling certain protections so it can continue to reside on your computer. Another possible scenario could be conflicts between other software namely antivirus protection and/or similiar software. You are best always trying to limit the amount of dedicated security software you have installed on your computer because they all will do the same things and they all want to share full access to your computer. It then becomes a battle of who controls what and gets access to what. You can override these conflicts but it usually takes a more technical approach than just installing stuff on your computer.

I can remember a situation quite a long time ago where a computer had become infected while security software was installed. I think it was Malwarebytes. The malware managed to disable all the protections belonging to Malwarebytes which could detect the threat ie real time scanning, hardening settings, updates etc. The program ran and so did much of the functionality and graphical interface but behind the scenes nothing was working properly. It was practically just a gimmick running on the system. The drive was booted into using a USB rescue disk and the rogue files were removed. Alternatively using the rescue CD that comes with Kaspersky can do the same thing automatically with a scan while the system is not running but the drive can be accessed prior to boot up.

A final option might be to restore to a previous period of time where these issues were not occuring. Failing that performing a clean install of Windows and prior to this wiping the drive several times. Then you can say with a high degree of confidence you've not been compromised which takes a large portion of this puzzle out of the equation. You also can take away the possibility of conflicts and problems with how your system is configured when it's fresh out of the box and nothing has been changed.

I have KIS 2020 installed on my Win 10 and everything is fine.
Perhaps you should try to remove KIS completely (maybe use KAV removal tool: see here). Restart and then re-install the latest KIS.
Remember to save/have your KIS key at hand.
