    Bitlocker on a non-TPM computer how secure is the password?

    I went thru the steps to enable bitlocker without a TPM module. I set it up to enter a password before bootup.
    Every thing appears to be working okay, but my question is just how secure is the password?! Is it stored on the hard
    drive unencrypted? How difficult would it be for a bad guy that has stolen my computer to hack it?
    Thanks

    @jwntex -

    Certainly better than nothing, but don't expect enterprise grade security.

    As I have understood it, the password is not stored anywhere. It´s used to perform a calculation from which the key to decrypt is derived.

    Also, a TPM is not needed to ensure security. VeraCrypt does not use a TPM.
