Windows defender is actually good now

However you will have to do some digging around and make some changes but if you don't mind losing some performance in order to gain better security, than windows defender is actually a really good choice nowadays. Out of 860 new malware samples, only 4 seem to make it through. Giving WD a 99.53 pro active detection rating.

Did you see the Kaspersky pro video on the same channel? That was impressive

Windows defender is the only thing that I have used for years on my PC's with no problems. No need to install anything else for my needs.

Me too. But it does pay to enable 'Block at first sight'...

The feature is automatically enabled, as long as Cloud-based protection and Automatic sample submission are both turned on...

    ...and enable PUA detection.

While Microsoft announced the new PUA feature as only available for the Enterprise edition of Windows 10, Home and Pro editions can also enable it on their Windows 10 PCs...
Enable or Disable Windows Defender PUA Protection in Windows 10

And of course enable Controlled Folder Access.

    Important point -

Security must be done in layers.

Use WD with MBAM and VT.
