Rather than go through many pages and forgotten prompts to create a folder Exclusion in Win Defender, I'd prefer to create a Desktop shortcut. Using the URI windowsdefender: I can get to the Manage prompt, but no further...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, not everything has a corresponding URI.
To go further, you can create a simple Autohotkey script to navigate through the options, then create a shortcut to that.
Example:
This script
run, ms-settings:windowsdefender
sleep 1500
send, {Tab}
sleep 1000
send, {Enter}
in e.g. file
DefenderExclusion.ahk
This emulates using tab and enter keys to navigate the dialogues.
When Autohotkey is installed, double-clicking DefenderExclusion.ahk takes you here:
Now I have other AV progs, so do not have the rest of the GUI options available to complete that for you.
You can then rt click the .ahk, click 'Compile' to create a .exe file and create a shortcut and put that in your start menu or wherever you like.
Just try that small script... all you need to do is put that in a xxxxx.ahk file and double click if you have Autohotkey installed. what have you got to lose? Half the job's done for you... You may need to adjust timing..

Or try Sordum's small, free, portable Defender Injector v1.1 which provides a GUI to handle the exceptions which it then 'injects' into Windows Defender.
To use, just drag'n'drop a file or folder onto the tool's UI to create the exception.
Or, even easier, use the 'Add to File and Folder Context Menu' option to just right-click on either a file or folder to add as an exclusion. If it can get any easier then I don't know it.
