I downloaded and installed this product a couple of times. The product itself is clean but they are bundling crap. I wasn't paying attention and received the crap. I noticed the crap when that Premier Opinion started asking me questions. You don't always get the same crap.

I restored with Macriun and tried again after folks on another thread said they had seen these offers.

The second time through it installed just the Partition Wizard. I scanned with purchased Malwarebytes and have subsequently scanned. No issues, no payloads.

You do have to be careful. On one download I got a copy of their backup software and cancelled immediately.

Shame they are doing this and I don't think it helps their brand.

I use a common trick when installing those bundled with adware installers. Disconnect from Internet before installing.

Well, I can't get the download of MiniTool to trigger a PUP like you did, no matter what settings I use.
    Hi f14tomcat,

Minitools Partiton, continues to show viruses. Now, even more!, First image.
... another option would be AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition of diskpart company, second image.

You just answer no to the additional installs and it is clean.

    bingo

Remember..... a PUP is not necessarily something bad, like a virus. Possibly Unwanted Program.

I think we went through all this with EaseUS a year or so ago, didn't we?

I found Windows defender was really awkward when dealing with the Mintitool partition wizard download until I disabled its PUP mode, Enable or Disable Windows Defender PUA Protection - TenForumsTutorials

I ended up using Download MiniTool Partition Wizard Offline Installer. I think I'll use that every time from now on.

I've started using the portable version of MiniTools Partition Wizard. I noted it leaves these two drivers enabled in Autoruns despite being a portable version.

    Steve,

My installed version also has those two entries. I'll consider playing with them later. I've checked the digital signatures and they are Minitool-provided files.

The installed version also adds an update task to TS [and this has a startup entry in Task mgr].

Most likely because some operations require a reboot.

How to Apply Changes | MiniTool Partition Wizard Help Tutorial

Moreover, sometimes users will be asked to restart the computer after they apply all changes. That is because they are operating the device which is being used. Just do as told and MiniTool Partition Wizard will perform all unfinished operations in safe boot mode. After all operations are completed, the computer will start normally.

I ran the Installed version side-by-side with the Portable version for a few weeks. Could tell no difference operationally. Portable starts up faster. Both have the obnoxious (IMO) "Do you really want to quit?" message.
