    Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection?

I'm using Win10 Pro and just recently noticed that I have a directory named
    "Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection"

I'm using Malwarebytes Premium Licensed version and Defender together.

If this something MS added to the present defender or is this a pay for addition?

Is the directory needed as it seems that "Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection" is a for more big boy setups for businesses.

    Can anyone explain.
    Thank you

I have that folder on all my W10 Pro PCs - size only about 17MB.

Client side ATP was added in 1803 or 1903 and improved Windows Defender's detection noticeably.
You do not want to remove it and you do not need to anything, though you can change some settings,.

Many WD advanced features are available on Windows Home (like ASR rules, Network Protection, etc.) via PowerShell cmdlets or registry tweaks. They are invisible to most users on Windows Home and are included in Windows Defender ATP.
All known advanced WD features that work on Windows Home can be activated/configured via ConfigureDefender application. Other features, like integration with WD Application Control, can be configured only on Windows E3 or E5.

    So the question still stands.
Is it being used for Win10 Pro or just a additional directory doing nothing ?

You may enable WD advanced settings via GPO, Powershell or by using the ConfigureDefender app. These settings aren't available through the Windows Security Center, which only has default settings. ConfigureDefender is the easiest way to enable advanced settings.
