Chrome extension no longer works within Sandboxie

Just recently, one of my Chrome extensions fails silently within SB. It works OK outside SB.

The extension is "Stylus", which has versions for Firefox, and almost every other browser.

The extension adds a line of CSS to colour all visited links red (as in IE version 0.0.0.0.1).

The extension has been working correctly with Chrome inside SB for about 20 years.)

With Firefox, Stylus works OK inside SB.

I would be grateful for any advice.

Hi OldGrantonian, if your Chrome sandbox is not set for content to be deleted automatically on closing of the browser (sandboxed programs), then I suggest you delete contents of the sandbox manually. I just took a look at the extension you are having a problem with, and I see it was recently updated. In case you don't know, running Chrome with a new version of the extension in a sandbox with old content (content before the update) could cause issues and might be the reason you are having the problem. So, delete content, and after doing it, run Chrome in the sandbox and test.

If that doesn't fix the issue, then you should create a new sandbox and with default settings (don't change any settings in the new sandbox), test the extension. If the extension works fine for you running Chrome in the new sandbox, then it means your old sandbox is either corrupted or you are using some setting that is messing things up causing the extension not to work for you in the old sandbox.

I dont use Chrome so I cant try Chrome, but FWIW, I just tested the extension in new Chromium Edge, and as far as I can tell, it does what its supposed to in the sandbox. I am not familiar with the extension but it seems to work fine, I did this with it, take a look.

I installed the extension sandboxed. If it works in Edge Chromium sandboxed, I think it should work with Chrome in the sandbox as well.

Try the suggestions, one or the other should fix your issue.

FYI: If willing to use Duckduckgo as your search engine you can get visited links highlighted without an extension.

    See - Edge

Works in any browser not just Edge.

@Bo got me sorted out, but I'll certainly try Duckduckgo.

Personally I use Duckduckgo or Startpage for my privacy search engines in all my browsers......Both work great.
