    cant install any antivirus

    Hi

I had SuperAnti spyware trial installed, but then decided to remove it....got stuck on the uninstall 30% so used Revo uninstaller and removed recommnded `traces`....also getting annoying `Norton renew your licemce ` pop up Ad window, every so often in firefox, not sure if related to the aforementioned...So decided too install Avast Free, that fails and says "there has been an error" also tried AVG free and Panda free both fail to install, Panda says cant access the internet...

    Any ideas please ?

Like Samuria said, could be malware infection. Also, a proxy could be blocking access to the Internet and that might cause problems to install certain suites. Try offline installers also.

Try with Superantispyware uninstall utility. You may have to use restore point to the sate when SAS was installed

Here is a list of AV uninstallers (on MS forums). Check 64bit version

i restored a macrium reflect image from a week ago, used the Superanti spyware uninstall utility and that worked perfectly, also uninstalled various programs I had installed to repair a faulty hard drive.....so far so good, the norton pop up seems to have gone....making a new image backup, then will try avast or panda AV....not sure if SAS AV is quite as genuine as it makes out to be, maybe just a way of Norton trying to promote their AV.....curious ....

thanks for the help......so difficult nowadays to find genuine software on the internet, so many fake sites.....even when looking for Avast free, I found a site that looked so genuine, but when I tried to load a support form, I was transferred to a dating site......the Internet, Not for the faint hearted

Most likely due to the infection rerouting you to a site you didnt intend to visit.

I would run malwarebytes alongside defender (comes with windows) or panda free.

Glad it worked.. I'm using Majorgeeks, or Softpedia for download. Like you said, can't be sure you're on the right site these days
Even better, use PatchMyPC. Automatic downloads and updates, and they have only software without any unwanted adds

Stop downloading programs from dodgey sites, if you want to use Avast then download it from the Avast webpage, etc, etc.

Also, I wouldn't let SAS anywhere near my computer as there are far better alternatives.
