    Put Windows Defender on Laptop

I have an ASUS lap top with Windows 10. I purchased it new and it doesn't have Windows Defender on it. Can I download and install it on the laptop?

Defender is part of the Windows 10 install package so it should be there. That said, do you have any other AV's installed?

    It's not in C:\Program Files\Windows Defender?
It's not shown in your Start menu [which uses its new name Windows security]?

It is a part of Windows 10, no need to download.

Frequently its icon will be hidden behind the taskbar, click the Up arrow ^ to the left of the clock and other icons in the Notification Area to check. If there right-click a blank area of the Taskbar then click Taskbar settings, go to the Notification section and change the setting for it to show all the time.

New OEM computer generally come with a short-time free or trial version of third-party antivirus programs which can disable or hide Defender, uninstalling those should fully restore Defender.
