Unwanted notification: "Turn on windows firewall". I don't want it.

I want to preface this by saying I did search for the answer to this question but the ones I found were obsolete.

So I'm behind physical firewalls on my home network and I've turned off the windows firewall. Now I get a nagging notification urging me to turn it back on. I want to turn off this notification but I can't find a way to do that. "Manage notifications" doesn't say anything about the firewall and when I click on the little gear inside this notification the options are greyed out. Since your system is behind a separate firewall and your copy of Windows doesn’t have any firewall defined, Windows is just warning you about what is obvious to you. I’m using Norton’s firewall on my system and I don’t see the warning message. Prior to v.1803, I would get a warning after CUs that there was no AV or firewall running and it would always come back to having Norton turned off as a result of the CU. There may be a way to set something in W10 Pro, but I’m afraid I am not knowledgeable on Pro. Which version of W10 are you running as your system specs. don’t specify?

Is the built in firewall causing you some issue? Security is all about layering.

When security messages are grayed out, there is nothing you can do, only disable all notifications.

Windows Firewall has zero performance impact, just enable it and set all profiles to allow all in/out.

But that defeats the purpose of the option to turn it off. I want it off, not on but pointlessly there. And I know what I'm doing, I don't need windows nagging me every time it decides. Makes no sense to me to have the option to turn it off, but a nanny come along and sternly point the wooden spoon at me...

There used to be an option to change how windows alerts you, and you could turn it off... now it seems that despite having the option to disable it, it's not going to be silent about it....

I didn't see if Win10 Home or Pro is being used but maybe using the Pro edition would give more/better choices with the Network?

Your router functions as a hardware firewall, while Windows includes a software firewall. Software firewalls allow you to easily control network access on a per-application basis.
