    Completely disabling Windows Defender

I'm running Win10 v1909 Bld 18363.535 and keep getting malware notifications from Windows Defender -- and they are really annoying!

I have done everything I have found to disable it, including the Windows Security settings and Regedit settings. When I get a notification, I click on it to see the details but then I get an error message indicating that some Windows Security features have been disabled and to contact my Adminstrator.

I am running MBAM v4, so I really do not need Windows Defender and I thought, that if you run a third-party AV product it was supposed to be disabled, anyway -- but as evidenced by the notifications, it is NOT.

I'm at my wits end and do not know of anything else I can do.

    Hello Mark,

If you haven't already, you could see if disabling notifications from Windows Security using an option in the tutorial below may stop it.

I couldn't find Windows Defender Security Center in my Group Policy Editor, so instead, I went to Windows Defender Antivirus - Client Interface and enabled Suppress all notifications. There was no option for critical or non-critical notifications.

    The GPO should be at:

    Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows components\Windows Security\Notifications
