    Eset Removal

    Hello,
    winver; 1903
I used Eset (One time Scan) free for a 2nd opinion. It downloaded 'esetonlinescanner_enu.exe'. Which I ran a few weeks ago.
It placed shortcut on my desktop.

Today just noticed my windows defender & Malwarebytes anti exploit icons do not appear in Task manager?
I can run WD manually and it says all clear.

Not sure what is going on? Maybe I'm over reacting.

I can see 'eset' when I click 'Start' but there is no remove option?
When I open 'eset' from desktop it says next periodic scan is '19 Jan'.

How do I get rid of eset from my system? There is nothing in Add/Remove programs?

Never used ESET online so I dl'd it and tried it. This is from their FAQ. I used the second method:

After every scan, you have the option to delete the ESET Online Scanner program files and components. Select the check box next to Delete application data on closing to automatically uninstall the scanner when you click Submit and close. However, if any files were quarantined, the ESET Online Scanner directories will not be removed. Manual Uninstall: Delete the esetonlinescanner directory from the following location: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\ESET\ESETOnlineScanner\

You'll have to check Show hidden files, folders and drives in Explorer to see AppData (see below):

When uninstalling antivirus software remnants can be left in the registry.
These remnants can interfere with Windows upgrades.
It's always best to use the applicable antivirus uninstall tool:

Uninstall ESET manually using the ESET uninstaller tool
Download ESET AV Remover | ESET

I ran the uninstaller in Safe Mode like it said to do and it didn't find anything as I had manually removed it. However it was still in the Start Menu. I had to manually remove it from the Start Menu-Programs folder. I wouldn't have noticed it as I use Open Shell and it wasn't in the menu but I checked the Windows Start menu and it was still showing.
