After many years of successful use, Laplink Gold file transfer software has become increasingly problematic to run alongside VIPRE Antivirus Security (using LLG USB black cable between Win 7 x64 systems). This was first encountered about a year ago.

Latterly LLG (15.102.121.0) would not launch on a Win 7 x64 system, even with VIPRE firewall exceptions set for LLG files (laplink.exe, LLUpdateCheck.exe, TSIRCUSR.exe, TsiUser.exe, wproxy.exe).

After a recent exchange of messages, LLG Tech Support advised that VIPRE be disabled on the Win 7 system during LLG file transfers, but the auto-connection process no longer works (Win 7 > Win 10 transfers).

Instead, the LLG 'address' user/password TCP/IP arrangement can be used, but file transfers are slow, e.g., 14 Mbps vs 'transfer rates can average 480 Mbps'.

So, feedback from other users of Laplink Gold & VIPRE - regarding their settings - would be appreciated. Failing that, can anyone recommend Zinstall Easy Transfer as a replacement for Laplink ?

Update: a problematic LLG licence (supplied less than a fortnight ago but failed to be recognised at the time of Internet registration) has now been replaced, and has been used to activate LLG on the Win 10 x64 laptop.

Thus the two systems - Win 7 desktop (VIPRE shutdown) & Win 10 laptop (running VIPRE) - can now successfully detect each other via USB cable, and allow transfers ca 350 Mbs.

Further update: LLG on the Win 10 laptop has to be launched as Administrator
