Thanks FreeBooter I'll have a read up on that before I attempt to do it as I'm a little scared of creating an even bigger mess.
Slowly, slowly bit by bit to kill the problems.

    Right a little update.
Still not been able to do a clean boot because of instability of the PC.
Things are very strange on the P.C. sometimes it just hangs then the next time it gets through opening up something. The pc keeps making odd noises which when I look [ctrl+alt+delete] Task Manager it appears to coincide with signal spikes in the Performance column. They show varying level of Kbps like this: 60, 80, 0, 24, 0, 24, 72, with about 12 of these spikes every 60 seconds.

I'm going to ring my BB provider to ask them to check my line in as the BT check I ran says I don't have Fibre broad band cables which I'm supposed to have running at 75K.

I wonder if my Hard drive is failing so I'm off to read up about cloud and stick back ups.

In writing this it has failed 3 times saying stopped working and I had to recover it.

Use CrystalDiskInfo to check SMART health report of the hard disk drive (HDD).

ugh! and ugh! again, I've been in a very dark place.
It turns out it was my HARD DRIVE that was failing.

I've had a disk data recovery done [95% back] and a new hard drive installed. Now I am trying to get all my software working that was previously installed.

    1]
I need some guidance on how I go about this, is there a procedure I should follow or can I just start adding the old software and it will hook back onto all the recovered data?
    2]
I am having issues with getting IE to come back and my email account which was a windows live mail one is also proving difficult to retrieve.

If I can get IE back I'm hoping that I will be able to retrieve all my FAVOURITES too as that will give me some direction to go in.

    Many thanks

Far as getting IE back, check this setting in Windows Features, and check it and apply if needed.

Thanks TC I have tried that and the box was allready ticked so I unticked it and re-ticked it again but I cannot find any ref to it on my PC after that? Where should I find IE.
I can see it in the Features but no where on the desktop, am I missing out on something.
Looking at your photo above mine is somewhat different.
Mine shows the same two .NET boxes but only the 2nd one has a black centre, the first one is blank.
The very next box is the ticked Internet Explorer 11 then the boxes appear to follow you box layout.

Part of my issues are that the reinstalled W10 looks different to my old version.

    Thanks

Sorry for the late reply, I was away. If there is no icon on the left of the taskbar for IE, click the Start Button and type IE, see what pops up in the results. If nothing, go to Settings>Apps and scroll thru to verify it's installed. If not, untick it, Apply, reboot. Go back and tick it, apply, reboot.

Don't be concerned about the .net. I have apps that require some of the .net 3.5, and it's not installed by default. I did that. Also, you have Home, I have Pro, so you will not see some, like Hyper-V.
