Windows Security Scan finds Virus, Is a blocked Virus still on System

    Hi,

I recently noticed some changes to Windows Security. No longer is there a delete option after taking actions against a Virus. If the action result shows the Virus is blocked does the Virus still remain on the System ? If so is there any way to permanently remove the Virus without resorting to a Windows reset / reinstall ?

    Thanks in Advance

Download and install Malwarebytes.....and run a scan with it. If it finds a anything it will quarantine it so it will not harm your system. Then you can delete it from the quarantine area with no problem and it will be gone from your system.

I personally don't like how MS has set up Defender when it finds something for actions to be taken.

My understanding is when Windows Defender finds a problem it gets rid of it, period. If there is a quarantine area I can't find it.

Also just noticed, after doing a Clean Install then new install of MBAM Beta 4.0.2 that I can't enable Windows Defender real time protection any more. It's greyed out and not accessible.

If the virus was blocked, then it didn't get into/on you machine.

You can double check with Eset free (on line scanner) Online Malware Detection | ESET

Well a co-worker suggested ClamWin antivirus and after Windows Security blocked it I ran ClamWin and all it reported was a bunch of False Positives which didn't make me feel any better. Second scan with Windows Security nothing was found.

    Thanks for the suggestions....
