How to ENABLE Open File security warning on Windows 10

I am a new user from Windows 7 and I found there a nice features (Open File - Security Warning Message) is missing on my Windows 10 version 1803.

Note: I want to ENABLE it not disable it.

I have tried to run inetcpl.cpl and reset to default, also tried to select Prompt (recommend) under Launching applications and unsafe files.

Also confirmed the Local Group Policy Editor > Attachment Manager > Do not preserve zone information in file attachments and Site to Zone Assignment List on Security page, both are on the Not configured state.

I have never seen the Open File - Security Warning message showing on my win 10. I have done everything i could including add HighRiskFileTypes .exe to HKEY_CU\.....\Policies\Associations

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, you should only get that message if there is a problem with the publisher certificate. So to stand a chance of generating it you would need to download such a file, for example.

Are you sure you have a suitable file?

I think you are aware there are several ways of stopping that message being generated.

So two things have to be true for you to be able to see it:
a. Have a suitable file
b. Ensure no method of disabling the check is in force.

Publisher cannot be verified, are you sure you want to run this app [FIX]

I gave you a perfectly reasonable answer addressing that. You need to REMOVE anything disabling it.

Sorry, not mean to shout. Too many post about `How to disable` but what I need is enable, in case someone misreading this thread so I set a heading.

I don't get it what do you mean by "you should ONLY get that message if there is a problem with the publisher certificate"
but my photo provided that your point is not correct? the open warning will show even the software have a valid certificate. how come it is wrong.

Yes, I get the warning when opening this file, that's exactly what I want to see. why some of '.exe' file get the warning some of them are not. It is not the same behavior like Windows 7. How to make the warning show up when open other files?

Just tested on my home computer `Windows 10 Version 1803` (the early reply is on workplace test), it didn't show the warning.

why?

Upgraded to 1903 the problem still exist.
