I bought a lifetime licence for Malwarebytes from eBay and it worked for about 3 years, then it was black listed, I paid about £15 for it, contacted Malwarebytes and they didn't want to know because I didn't buy it from them.
I now use it in free mode and do periodic scans as and when required.

BTW one doesn't really need things like malwarebytes any more on the latest builds of W10 - especially if you are using the free version -- it doesn't offer anything for a home user that the latest WD (now called Windows Protector BTW) and the real time protection software currently built into the latest Windows releases --- Ms is now trying to break big time into providing security for corporates and cloud services too --e.g its Azur system). The sheer amount of resources Ms can pour into this ongoing project will swamp any small 3rd party provider - especially as Ms holds the source code etc for Windows releases and so 3rd party suppliers have to use the published API's -- if they try and reverse engineer etc the chances are the thing won't work properly following any Windows update.
A lot of 3rd party A/V programs can't keep up with Ms W10 build updates etc -- especially if you are on insider rings etc.
Most of the 3rd party A/V stuff are providing late C20 solutions for Q1 C21 problems !!!!! -- also if you actually believe in comparative studies of A/V systems WD comes very highly recommended.
Viruses / Malware aren't mega problems on home computers these days -- what is needed is a new set of A.I (Artificial Intelligence) algorithms that can help Humans from being scammed by things like "Fake Tax websites" offering Tax refunds, Identity fraud, Bank accounts being raided etc etc. That's where the effort should be made by these 3rd party A/V companies -- bog standard malware really isn't a problem issue any more on Home computers provide decent surfing is done, WD up to date, and private info not made available too easily on social media sites.

My cost in 2015 for Malwarebytes full license: C$29.99. Status: Never Expires. Current one-year subscription for Malwarebytes: US$52 per year.
My point? MS Project is not worth over twice as much as Office Pro, and their prices in other countries are so far out of whack to be considered an out and out rip-off. Malwarebytes is not worth $52 per year. And while I'm at it, Adobe and Intuit are equally rapacious. If the software companies were realistic about their pricing, particularly with the move to subscription pricing, there might be less of a grey market for their products.
I buy from Ebay and have never had a problem. It all depends on what you buy. Mine is all hardware and I've been very satisfied with what I got. Just be careful and make sure you have a return guarantee. I've never had to use it but I want it just the same.
I would never buy licensed software from them though
If in doubt I go with the "never spend more than you can afford to lose or throw away", same when visiting Las Vegas.
I've heard that Ebay is less treacherous than it used to be because Paypal tends to be highly protective of buyers---perhaps overly so to the detriment of sellers.
In fact, I wonder what happens if a seller conducts an honorable sale and a disreputable buyer simply claims he was sent a box of newspaper.
Thirty years ago, long before Ebay, I was the recipient of the newspaper and was unable to collect on the insured package sent by a fraudulent seller.
I would hope proof would be required though something like that could be pretty easily faked.
