    New Defender Antimalware Client Version

Finally received the new Defender Antimalware Client Version 4.18.1908.7 which cures the sfc /scannow errors which have been widely reported in these forums in various threads. Ran sfc /scannow -- no integrity violations found. The new version is also on the Microsoft Update Catalog under kb4052623.

Took some time for Microsoft to release this to non-insiders. Bottom line, it corrects the problem.

I have updates deferred for 20 days so I want to download this from the catalog. When I look, I see 3 available. How do I know which one to get? I'm at 1903 18362.295.

Argh! They do not say which is which! One will be for ARM CPUs, one for x64 and one for x86. You'll just have to download and try each one in turn, two of them will say they can't run on your system.

Let us know which one works and on what type of system (I'm guessing you have x64)

Have you actually checked what version of Defender you now have after running it? I tried the x86 one on a VM, as you say, nothing appeared to happen. but...

Edit: reset the VM to its last checkpoint and tried again. It definitely updated Defender again, just doesn't give any sign that it's doing do!
