I have updates deferred for 20 days so I want to download this from the catalog. When I look, I see 3 available. How do I know which one to get? I'm at 1903 18362.295.

    Attachment 247725
i tried each one of these, just the last one told me that doesnt work on my computer
but the other ones didnt even start, i can see then in the taskbar, but nothing happens no matter how much time i wait

the KB4052623(4.18.1908.7) error 0x80070643 just wont stop, it downloads but wont install no matter what
i tried many work arounds but none of then worked

    should i just ignore?

Took some time for Microsoft to release this to non-insiders. Bottom line, it corrects the problem.
It corrects a problem which should never have existed had MS taken the simple step of running sfc /scannow before release

0x80070643 has turned up several times on TenForums with previous Antimalware Client Version updates (as well as other Windows Update updates). Perhaps something here might help --

Windows Defender KB4052623 impossible to install, error 0x80070643

Win Defender KB4052623 (v4.18.1905.4) repeated install fail 0x80070643

Windows Defender update KB4052623 Error 0x80070643

Using a 3rd-party antivirus may also prompt the error in some cases. Here's a link from a user who came up with a solution for his issue --

KB4052623 Install Fail (Error 0x80070643): A suggested workaround.

If none of the above solves your issue, hopefully someone with more detailed knowledge will stop by. Good luck!

i tried the first 3 before

as for the suggested, i couldnt find the "periodic scanning"
also i dont use any other antivirus
and as for kb2267602, that one i managed to install for some reason
its just the kb4052623 that wont go

EDIT: I GIVE UP, i just dont undestand how the heck windows work, after restarting my computer for like the 17th time, it just said it didnt had any new updates, and my windows defender is already at "Versão do Cliente Antimalware: 4.18.1908.7" wtf

i am happy but wtf windows, at last try to explain me how you work

also thx alot Crizal for trying to help me

Yes, if you're not using another antivirus the last link is no help and "periodic scanning" won't show up. As for the Antimalware Client Version finally installing, who knows? Perhaps something just needed to sort out? Another Windows mystery. In any event, I'm glad it finally worked out, even if we don't know how.

As I just posted on another thread, I've just observed on my only Windows 10 Enterprise PC that if you don't enable Defender, it won't update either. I'd thought perhaps that Enterprise used a different Windows Defender client. Nope! Soon as I enabled it for periodic scans, then ran WU, 4.18.1908.7 immediately downloaded to that machine. Who knew?

Good info to have. Like you said, who knew? And, a big thank you for your observations and comments in the other thread and all threads you contribute to. I'm learning much.

Windows Update has just downloaded the new Antimalware update. I checked Defender settings and it has been updated. So straight away I ran sfc /verifyonly. CBS log errors again! Ive looked at them and they are the same Windows Defender Powershell issues as before. I didn't reboot my PC before running sfc /verifyonly. Also, in my case I hadn't fixed the errors previously. I have just waited for Microsoft to release this antimalware update fix. I wonder if either of these things might be the problem? Should I have used DISM to fix the problem before the Antimalware engine got updated to this new version?

Probably....yes. I doubt an update to the platform would fix any existing goofs. I had run an SFC prior and after, and both were clean.
