But are you saying amazon bought this product in bulk from dell to sell it on amazon? Or you mean a 3rd party bought this in bulk to sell it to amazon to then sell it to consumer?
When you say copycat devices, you mean fakes/counterfeits right? Like those fake usb flash drives? Or you mean copycat devices in terms of something else? My main concern is not only if its fake/counterfeit, but if it is compromised where if you connect it to computer, it can put malware etc to it. That is my main concern. I mean if this product was open box and claimed as new but its legit... im still okay with that. But my main concern is malware and if someone could put something in it. Then again, is it worth it for them if they don't know who they selling it to?
But the box is what made me very suspicious. Again, i never seen this box ever before and i checked google for this type of box for the pw7015l... cannot find any...

Yes that is the article i read. And the box of those hyper power adapters is like similar picture as the box the pw7015l got shipped in. But mine doesn't have any power adapter, its just the power bank. But from looking at that, besides being concerned if its counterfeit or have malware, that would be another concern right because the box is like the same picture? I will post it later today.

Don't schools teach ANY engineering, physics or General Science these days or is it all about "media studies", "TV celebs", "gender Neutrality", or "how to con the public in Banking".
If the box is purely a power adapter then it's just passing various electrical voltages to the computer bus -- the only malware possible could be in the box itself if it has the facility to close down the power supply, overload the computer with incorrect voltages or become a fire hazard.
There's no way it could infect a computer as there's no way any software / malware can be transmitted along the electrical DC lines of the computer's mobo BUS.
Even an electrical overload probably wouldn't cause a failure on a decent computer as it would have some sort of fuse or electrical overload protection.
Please get REAL about threats to computers -- some people on this section are so paranoid that I wonder how they even dare to switch on a computer in the first place. !!!!!
If you buy any electrical gear simply check that it conforms to the electrical safety standards you have in place in your relevant country / area. No safety standard --then don't buy -- actually I'm surprised that if goods don't pass safety tests relevant for your country / region that they are allowed to be imported at all --but that's another issue as we know with zillions of imports arriving daily from places like China, Vietnam etc that it's impossible to check every item individually.

Hi there. Thats what i was told earlier. If it transmit power, you can't get any malware. But then some other ppl said its still possible. But there are also usb ports as well on this thing. And i know you can get malware from that.
Well the box it comes in... i never seen this box before. Its like imagine bought a video game system like back then nintendo 64... you know how the box should look but instead, it comes in a design that you never seen before etc.

If there's any way this thing could transmit malware via its USB port there would have to be some sort of complex installer on it which WD would immediately pick up.-- Believe me no serious hacker is going to bother with this stuff -- much too complex a problem for the amount of "reward" to be gained -- there's far easier ways and more money to be earned using other types of scams / other hardware etc. It's much harder for people to write code at the actual hardware level of a particular device than "generic malware" -- just look at the problems a lot of people have in getting NORMAL 100% certified Windows drivers to work properly with some current hardware never mind on coding for dubious bits of unbranded chinese chips (probably wouldn't all have the same characteristics either --each batch could be totally different set of hardware !!!).
Malware on power packs for laptops etc is a pointless exercise in futility -- no sensible / serious hacker would even waste 30 secs on that type of stuff !!!
Remember though the old quote
" The price of education might be high --but the price of ignorance is certainly astronomical". !!!
Always query these things --if it's just a power device just ask yourself how would any malware get passed to the computer !!!

Well theres 2 usb ports on it and the charger. What do you mean WD? You mean windows?
Why would you say no serious hacker would do something like this? I read they sell usb flash drives which cost a few dollars that has malware on it. So why hot a more expensive device? I mean if someone who uses this device means they travel often, wouldn't it make sense? Is it harder to put malware on this as oppose to a usb flash drive is what you mean? I read something about cyberjacking or cyberjuicing so isn't this all related?
Well how long would it take for a hacker to do something like this to a power pack?

Okay so after careful inspection of the box, i just noticed this at the back of the box.
Its imported by Canada from dell.ca
On the bottom left with all the wordings, it has For Argentina Only. So this means this is a canadian product but meant for resale in argentina?
