Ads appearing on Desktop in lower right corner Windows 10

This is extremely frustrating. I have tried everything. Rkill, malware bytes, rouge killer, and probably many others. Nothing seems to work. There are these stupid ads that pop up on my desktop every so often in the lower right corner of the screen. I enclosed a screenshot. Sometimes the ads are different but always the same style of ad. What is this? How do I stop them?

I am on a dell laptop, windows 10 home edition, I use Firefox (not sure if that matters). I have emptied cookies and offline content multiple times, does nothing to stop it. I have literally tried everything I could think of except maybe casting a spell on it, which probably also wouldn't work. Please help.

It is most likely an application that is doing that. If you start Windows with a Clean Boot, does it go away?

Have you tried clicking 'Remove ad'? - that should tell you what you need to buy.

    Otherwise:
    If you use e.g. Winspy
WinSpy - Window Information Tool - AutoHotkey Community
    or Process Explorer from MS
and drag the target on their Gui over the ad, does the process shown by that program help to tell you where it's coming from?

Does the text top left of your screenshot mean anything?

Um, clean boot? You mean like start up in safe mode? Haven't tried that. But even if I did, I wouldn't know what the issue was that wasn't loaded into memory. Under normal conditions, it always eventually comes back. I did go into Windows settings under system and notifications and then turned off all notifications. But it still pops up.

Clean boot doesnt mean safe mode, it means untick ALL non microsoft entries in MSCONFIG startup.

I had a similar problem after visiting a chinese site, used the advice given and eventualy got rid of it

    good luck

I think it does the same thing as the X, but I'll try that next time it pops up, probably within the next 24 hours or so. I downloaded the program you suggested. Will try it on the next iteration. And uh, no I don't think the top left text means anything. I was mainly just trying to screen cap a normal window so you'd be able to see what it looks like when it occurs.

WPS Office comes up with ads looking rather like that with the remove ads link.

Uninstall Firefox and delete all Firefox folders in your user Appdata folders. Reinstall and reconfigure Firefox - remember to backup your favourites.

AdWCleaner is worth a try if you have used it already.

Interesting. I did have that program installed. Just uninstalled it. I'm gonna give it some time and see if it comes back. Thank you very much! Fingers crossed.

.. plus I can't avoid that horrible SimSun font many complain about when pasting things from the net e.g.
Compatible it may be, but there are a couple of things about Writer that annoy me- plus those ads (which I could close automatically if I wished) - but given the others, I'd rather use a different free Office suite.
