    On second thoughts - I know little about Steam so it is probably wise to leave those two entries alone.

    Hi.
    Just FYI: Punkbuster is an anti-cheat service for online games. You'd get it from a Steam game install...nothing to worry about.

    I assume you do not make regular image backups, to use as a restore in situation likes this?
    Have you tried running ADWCleaner?
    Can you do a clean boot (disable all non-MS and non-critical applications) and run ADWCleaner, to see if you can nip this thing enough to finish the cleaning?
    Then run Ccleaner to remove all history/cache/etc. from all browsers on the system, and clear out registry.
