    Hi there

    @humbird

    None of these "Post analysis" things are any good -- as it's impossible to replicate what individuals do on their machines and in any case new threats may come out long after the tests were done.

    I do though think WD is good enough these days for the latest version of Windows 10 for Home computers --IMO rendering things like Malwarebytes and other 3rd party software a bit pointless these days -- again on HOME (not Enterprise computers).

    In any case home users are much more likely to fall victims to scamming rather than malware these days and that is something only a Human Brain can defend against. You have to be doing really bonkersly weird things now to get any sort of malware on home computers --the Hacking Community has moved on to more profitable and possibly more destructive actions. Even torrent sites like the still surviving TPB don't want a load of malware for their users and have much better control of what's uploaded as well.

    Most of the AV software I see on this section of the Forum was designed with last Century's OS'es and threats in mind -- W10 in 2019 is a totally different animal and is as well protected with WD than anything else --and it's also updated very frequently too.

    Cheers

    Hi Jimbo,
    Agreed. I have had Defender on my home laptop for a very long time. I think it has been doing a great job and has a much smaller footprint than many of the big name antivirus out there. It has advanced into a mature product and works in tandem with windows 10 home. Safe browsing habits, watching out what you download to your computer, and not opening emails with attachments goes a long way towards staying safe on the web.
    Have a great day!

    Been Using Defender on Laptop machine since purchased it on December 24th 2018, No issues detected, now if i can get myself to stop reinstalling Avast Free on the Desktop Machines, all would be perfect i do think. System cleanup on Desktop later on tonight though, so should be able to get stuff all sorted out

    Yes no reason not to use Defender on your Desktop also. I believe Avast has a cleanup tool to completely remove it. Have fun with that cleanup tonight.

    Unbelievable But True

    Sorry to interrupt, but I saw these AV test results today and was so gobsmacked I had to share.
