My Identity has been stolen, please help

As I stated, my identity has been stolen and I am going through the processes of securing it. I fear that the hacker my have remote access to my pc. I downloaded a virus, reinstalled windows only to find out that he got my google info (Passwords and all) I am not a computer genius but I'm not bad for an old guy either, he seems to be one step ahead of me so Idk if I'm being paranoid or what. For example, I created new emails with new passwords, but I never receive a response from Microsoft about my stolen account, a few apps were installed in my Microsoft store that seemed unusual (xbox console companion was one) and there seems to be a lot of activity on my firewall (something I know nothing about) Any help would be appreciated

Identity theft or compromised accounts, like email, facebook and such?

Identity theft is a serious business and it can not be solved without police and an attorney.

Depending on the country of residence, there are various steps: https://www.identitytheft.gov

Full blown Identity theft, ssn's and all, I have started with link you provided along with identity protection from Experian and put a fraud alert on my credit report. My concern atm is sites like amazon, Walmart, etc. He has stolen my email accounts and Microsoft account, I recovered my gmail accounts but I cannot get my Microsoft account back, and all of my online shopping accounts are link to Hotmail. Also, after getting my gmail accounts back, I restored all filters but I feel like some emails are being deleted (maybe paranoid) such as the responses from Microsoft because I have not received any. Hard lesson learned, but please be very careful storing passwords!

Thank you for the response, I am taking the necessary actions including the link you provided, I am concerned about making sure my pc is secure. He has all my info including my IP address so I am very concerned that he has remote access to my computer. He stole my gmail accounts and my Microsoft account (including Hotmail) I have since recovered my gmail accounts and reset the filters so I can receive all emails but I am getting a small amount and some may be disappearing, and I have not received any response from Microsoft about my stolen account. Either they do not care, or he is deleting their responses (I may be paranoid) Many of my online shopping accounts are in my Hotmail so I really need to recover it, and I have made a few purchases thru Microsoft store that I can no longer access because my account has been stripped from me.

There is some UK info at Action Fraud

You might have already seen this Recover your Microsoft account

You do not mention having informed your bank & your credit card companies. Doing so straightaway is essential if you later want their assistance in the event that any fraud does occur.

    Best of luck,

You might also consider an insurance for the future. I am paying only $1 per month and I am protected up to $2000 per every reported fraud using my identity, plus a legal representation and such. A great deal.

One thing you should be more worried about is your bank account check it for withdrawals that are not you and inform your bank of what's happened and ask for new debit and credit cards

Definitely follow through with the best advice and actions on all of that for all of your personal business etc.

On your computer, you might want to have a local computer shop set up your computer.
Although you are doing what you can do, that hacker most likely can keep track of what you are doing.

    Hi there.

    1) Contact Police or other agency in your country that deals with Computer Fraud.

    2) Check Bank accounts to see if any money missing.

    3) Get Bank / CC card companies to issue new cards immediately - and block all the old ones.

    4) Any regular service you have like netflix for example - change all passwords including those on email accounts, amazon and other e-commerce sites if you use them etc.

    5) If poss also change email address although that's often not so easy.

    6) Finally WIPE HDD and either restore a clean image or install windows again from scratch.

Plenty of programs like Free Macrium to regularly take computer backups and recover again if computer gets "virused" or hosed up at all. It's Free reliable software and used by loads of people in these Forums.

    Cheers
