    Not sure if right section but just wondering is it possible to get virus/hacked from those redirect ads that often plays music in the background and sometimes prompts you with a login? sometimes when u try to close it by X there will be pop up like "are u sure u are missing out on our trash"

    and what should i do when i run into one of those ?

    Not unless you download and run anything from there.

    Use an ad-blocker to block pop ups.

    Try the AdGuard or uBlock Origin browser extension(s).

    Hi,
    Right click taskbar and select open task manager
    Processes or applications section click on your browser listing and select End.
    Repeat if needed on other browser listings.

    Full scan with malwarebytes free

    I could be wrong here, but wasn't it possible to get virus' through plugins, like Flash Player before? I swear I've seen several warnings on a few anti-virus programs over the decade when there was a malicious ad using Flash trying to load on my computer (without me clicking on anyting). This was way back when Flash was mostly used for ads and videos, and HTML wasn't.

    Hi there

    @ThrashZone

    @Faith

    @seergaze

    Malwarebytes doesn't do anything that WD can't do now -- including real time malware detection -- time to ditch these things on Home computers which are running the latest builds of W10.

    If you get Malware now on W10 I suspect no cheap consumer grade AV system will be any better than WD plus the current antimalware detection updates on latest W10.

    C'mon peeps --get real --the whole AV industry is basically (as far as home computers are concerned -- not Networked / corporate / infrastructure systems) still living on past defects of C20 Windows where W7/W8/W8.1 were as leaky as sieves as far as AV was concerned.

    Now 100% NOT NECESSARY -- (on Home computers) -- remember it's NOT FEAR but the FEAR OF FEAR ITSELF which is the paranoia and problem.

    Time to ditch Malwarebytes, Macaffee, kaspersky etc etc on Home computers --they bring ZILCH to the table any more.

    I still (hate to say it) use sites like TPB etc to get content --I'd love to pay for but isn't available where I am -- never any problem with "nasties" -- I do salve my conscience though into paying some money to a Musicians Charity so I'm not 100% evil --but on the whole you can forget 3rd party AV systems these days on the latest releases of W10.

    Cheers
