Windows 10 1903 and McAfee Compatibility

I am trying to update my wife's PC to Windows 10 version 1903 but am getting this message " McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise. Uninstall this app now because it is not compatible with Windows 10." It was working with Windows 10 1809. Is there a way round this? My wife wants to keep McAfee.

    Hi there

    DUMP McAfee

I think pretty well anybody outside the corporate area calls it "Mc Aweful" --No neeed for that POS on any home computers any more -- just uninstall and stick to WD for Windows 10 latest releases -- unless you are messing around with a whole lot of Pirate Torrent sites or other nefarious activities Viruses are more than adequately protected against these days with WD.

In any case danger IMO today comes far more by scamming, fake web sites, identity theft, e-commerce fraud etc etc so that's where you need to concentrate your efforts on. These types of scams can't be handled by any amount of Virus protection but need a bit of "Brain Usage" !!!!!.

    Cheers

Check with McAfee for an updated version that does work with Ver 1903.

I suggest uninstalling McAfee, doing the Ver 1903 update then re-installing McAfee / installing the new McAfee version.

Is this a business computer. "enterprise" is only sold to corporations.

It is a problem with the third party software companies not keeping up with Microsoft. This happened with XP and 7. You remove the problematic software or do a clean install of the OS.

True, That is why I use Defender on all the machines I manage.

But as stated, I have only seen "enterprise" Mcafee on current business computers or refurb/employee purchased ones that came from a business.

A private end user can also choose to use an Enterprise edition of a malware product such as McAfee or Symantec for example.

    It is rare though.

Thanks all. You are quite correct in the assumption that McAfee came with a laptop that was purchased by a corporation. One of our daughters who works for the corporation is making enquiries of the technology section to try to find a solution. I have myself had a go at disabling McAfee and then trying to upgrade to v. 1903 but without success as the original message reappeared almost immediately. The version 1903 has downloaded OK. It will not install however. I have also tried updating McAfee.
I will need to convince my wife that Windows Defender is good enough for her needs unless our daughter comes up with a solution. Thank you all for your interest.

If the laptop is still owned by the company, You shouldn't do anything. If it does not and she was given or bought it, even uninstalling/disabling it has to be done by the company as it is locked from uninstalling without a password.
