    Hi there

    DUMP McAfee

I think pretty well anybody outside the corporate area calls it "Mc Aweful" --No neeed for that POS on any home computers any more -- just uninstall and stick to WD for Windows 10 latest releases -- unless you are messing around with a whole lot of Pirate Torrent sites or other nefarious activities Viruses are more than adequately protected against these days with WD.

In any case danger IMO today comes far more by scamming, fake web sites, identity theft, e-commerce fraud etc etc so that's where you need to concentrate your efforts on. These types of scams can't be handled by any amount of Virus protection but need a bit of "Brain Usage" !!!!!.

    Cheers

jimbo, I don't doubt info in your post at all, but in my case, McAfee Multi-Access Total Protection is provided free by my ISP ( Cox). They have informed me to install it, to protect my pc's to the point of almost a threat indicating Sality was on my pc and they would terminate my services if I didn't use McAfee and solve this "infection". I complied (even replaced pc and router) using many malware removers, etc but found no problems on my pc. I didn't like this attitude at all, but they are the only game in town that is acceptable for Internet, so I have it installed along with Defender and haven't seemed to have any problems. Cox does check my account, I know, as they told me so. Sometimes, it's easier just not to buck the system!

The laptop was bought through the firms ordering process ( to save a few bob) but paid for by my wife. McAfee did seem to disable ok when I did just that before trying to install 1903 so if there is no other solution I would hope it will uninstall.

See if you can uninstall Mcafee using their uninstall tool:

    https://service.mcafee.com/webcenter...%3D5x7z405x9_9

    Download the MCPR tool:

Also if needed run the Microsoft troubleshooter:
Repair or remove programs in Windows 10:
