    Password managers are getting expensive!

My first year of Lastpass was $12, then it jumped to $24, now they want me to pay a whopping $36 for one year

Dashlane wants around $60, and Keeper just offered me a year for $25, BUT, they want another $10 for storage

    Is there a better alternative?

Norton Password Manager is a free extension.
Get the Edge version from MS Store
    Firefox from from FF extensions
Google Store for chrome base browsers.

You have to setup a Norton account with an E-mail and then create the vault.

SafeinCloud, just one payment for the iOS or Android version, and the desktop is free, integrates perfectly with Safari, Firefox, Chrome and Edge Dev (Chromium based). No monthly or annual payments. I've using it for years. Ah and the database is kept in you cloud solution not in some else's servers.

To me, it is more about which I believe is the most secure more than how much it costs. $10-$15 a year more isn't going to kill me. If there is little to no difference in security and/or features, cost matters.

    @CannonRebel

I store my passwords in Chrome, then enable the Chrome Flag that allows me to export my passwords to an Excel file. I then store that on an external hard drive or a USB Flash Drive.

My free solution is store passwords on a Bitlocked USB drive in a password protected Word file.

Well, I got 5 years of Roboform for $25 - that's $5 a year - special offer via Majorgeeks.. and that covers my 2 PCs and phone.

You can weigh up security vs cost, but also the time saved in accessing sites quickly- 1 click to launch browser, open site and autofill data - vs cost.

If using a password manager saves you - say- 1 hour a week, how much would that time be worth to you?

    Hi there

What's wrong with old "paper and pencil" method !!!!! - or simply store passwords on an external thumbdrive and encrypt it.

Why pay 36 USD when a bit of "brain" would solve problem easily.

In any case if you use things like Firefox browser you can use this to store passwords -- you don't want to leave plaintext files of passwords around though so encrypt.

Is it really so hard to enter a few passwords -- if you have that many online accounts which takes up so much time and effort I suspect you might need to arrange other activities for a while -- go to Baseball, soccer, Cricket, to the Pub, theatre, restaurant etc etc !!!!

    Cheers

Paper and pencil is not very secure. Mum does that and I can just browse it for any of her passwords.

I had premium Lastpass but cancelled when they hiked the price up.

    Hi there
Nothing is 100% secure but I'm assuming paper and pencil would be stored in a safe place - not taped to or under computer keyboard for example -- you could even store as a file (encrypt of course) on a mobile phone.
