    Removing protection from non-system folder

My problem concerns Windows Security/Virus & threat protection/Ransomware protection/Controlled folder access/Protected folders. The option exists to add a protected folder to the ones that Windows already protects. I did that. I would now like to remove the folder that I added from that list. I went to the name of the folder, beneath it is the word Remove. If I click on Remove, that folder still remains. How do I remove a folder from the list?

Hi and welcome to the forum

Add Protected Folders to Controlled Folder Access in Windows 10

I would look at option 4 here if option 2 did not work before.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for the suggestion. Certainly 2 does not work. When I try using 4, I get the message that "I don't have enough permissions...." When I check under users, it states "standard" for me and for a user I added later. I have tried to change the status to Administrator, but neither I nor the other user can be changed. Thoughts?

How many user accounts are on the computer and what type are they?

When you got the computer how did you log in initially, with email or a password?

For example, on my laptop I have two accounts; a local admin account and a local standard account.

Check and let us know what types of accounts there are so we can try and help resolve this.

If you have no other User accounts on your system( accidentally changed your account to standard, check this thread... it point to Tutorials:

Don't forget to disable that account after you change your user to admin
