One of the first things I disable is remote desktop even though just selecting disable in vanilla settings still does not completely turn it off
You have to go to the old menus to disable remote access.

Is it easy for hackers to attack machines with “remote desktop connection” enabled?

I'm sure it's a lot easier than not

All they have to do is run a script if it's enabled and boom

If it's disabled clearly the setting would need to be altered first before full control would be lost.

What do you mean by 'old menus'?

I always control remote access via System Properties (see below). Isn't that an equally safe method?

Yeah remote assistance seems to be different than remote desktop
Assistance is more MS's backdoor hole and stays checked even though remote desktop item is unchecked been that way for me and is always something I confirm either way if some miracle both are unchecked.
