    ad popup bottom right taskbar

    Hi,

Following a visit to this website [http://tobydeals.co.uk] I've started to receive a pop up in the bottom right of my screen, it's an ad with no option to close, that attempts to drag me back to the site.

I've checked Chrome and added a Block pop ups for that URL. I've installed MalwareBytes and it doesn't detect any malware. The pop ups continue.

I haven't seen a popup like that before in the bottom right of the screen, with no option to close, nasty adware/what the heck is it?!!

Please can anyone suggest how I might prevent it from reappearing?

    Thank you

Cheers Kari. I wasn't familiar with these notification settings. I've disabled notifications from Chrome, seems slight overkill ban on all of Chrome (though I'm not sure what notifications I'll miss), I don't see a way to target just the nasty tobydeals website. I'll see if it resolves. Thanks

This may be helpful. This an example from here, Tenforums. On any site where you have granted the permission to send Notifications, they would appear here. Click where I pointed with the red arrow, and they will show in Permissions. Then the gear will take to the browser settings for notifications, where you can add/delete any exceptions. This would allow site-by-site control over the pop-ups. My pic is using Firefox, Chrome may look different, but same concept.

Pop-ups and notifications are two different things in Chrome settings. That's a notification:

That's why I posted what I did. OP needs to go to the site, and do the Permissions block for notifications.

Brilliant, I believe you nailed it. It had Allow notifications on tobydeals. I changed back to Block. Perhaps I inadvertently allowed when I visited the site.

While it was helpful, I'm now thinking Kari's earlier advice may now not be necessary, so I can reenable Chrome notifications - do you agree?

    Thanks

You can do either, but site-by-site, if not too cumbersome, is probably the best choice. Like you said, you may have inadvertently said "OK" one time. Those should pop-p and ask permission each time, just say "NO". I would do the site-by-site. Blanket blocking is ok, too, but you may want some. Your choice.
