Unable to install Sandbox in Build 1903

I followed the steps shown here: Enable Windows Sandbox Feature in Windows 10 Home Edition but the installation failed because it said it could not find sandbox.txt on my desktop.

This was confusing because the downloaded ZIP file had no file of this name. It did have a file named readme.txt so I renamed this to sandbox.tct but that did not help. Then I thought maybe Ineeded to enable virtualization in my BIOS - so I did that. But that did not help. So I wonder if anyone has been able to successfully install on Home 1903. If so I'd like to know what the secret is.

Have you enabled Hyper V and sandbox in Programs and features?

    Is your account an Administrator?

sandbox.txt is created by the batch file:
    dir /b %SystemRoot%\servicing\Packages\*Containers*.mum >sandbox.txt

If I run that on my Win 10 Pro system I get 46 .mum files listed. Run the above then look at sandbox.txt.

If you have Controlled Folder Access turned on it may have blocked creating sandbox.txt on the Desktop, that's one of the protected folders. Turn it off temporarily and try again.

Thanks Bree - you hit the nail on the head. Once I disabled desktop protection the install ran smooth as silk. When I rebooted my system it came back OK and I checked Control Panel/Windows Features/Windows Sandbox and it was checked. I also verified that Task Manager/Performance showed the Virtualization was enabled.

Everything looks exactly the same as before (meaning before I enabled Sandbox) - so does this mean that until I reboot with the Windows Sandbox feature unchecked any changes I make to my boot drive will be lost? And the only way I can get back to "normal" function is to uncheck Windows Sandbox and reboot?

The system obviously knows when it is running in Sandbox mode, so it seems to me it would be a good idea to put some notification on the taskbar (or somewhere visible) that says Sandbox is active. I'm on Home; maybe Pro does this.

    Edit:

Silly me - I failed to understand that Sandbox is an app that runs init's own window. Now I know I just have to start it when needed. To make this easier I've put the Sandbox icon on my task bar.
