    Anonymizing my ip address

    I have been trying to improve my internet security lately, and i have a pretty solid antivirus and antispyware program, plus windows firewall as well, so the only thing left for me is to anonymize my ip adress. I really don't want to give any personal details away. If i use a program similar to this, will my browsing activity be sent to them?

    Sorry, but i don't see my questions answered on those websites? Also, i have read that hide my ip keeps your logs, so im not sure if it's a good idea to use that program? It also seems that you have to pay for a monthly subscription. I would prefer not to have a subscription.

    You get what you pay for as my dear old Gran used to say.

    VPNs are very cheap these days especially if you pay in advance. I have just bought 3yrs subscription for £100 equals less than £3 per month.

    You can attempt to get it cheaper or free but in end you need a good infrastructure to back you up or else you will have crap performance or poor anonymity.

    I assume your primary interest is privacy and this list shows a comparison of services and whether they keep logs or not (among other things):

    I see. I mostly just want to know if they keep logs, as it sort of defeats the whole purpose of using it, if logs are being sent to them.

    Yes, privacy is the main reason. I'm mostly looking for a program similar to hide my ip, but it seems like they are only offering a monthly subscription, plus they seem to keep logs.

    @Cerawy -

    Have you ever tried TOR Browser? It's free...

    Keep in mind that your real IP is always known by somebody.
    Even the best Russian Hackers eventually get "caught", lol.

    I'm not insinuating anything!

    I am sure others will correct me if I am wrong, but I do not believe one can be truly anonymous online.

    As Compumind mentioned, someone, somewhere will know the real IP.

    But more than that, unless I am mistaken even a VPN service or TOR cannot entirely protect against or prevent fingerprinting.
