After installing Malawarebytes WFC having Twitter issue with images

Since installing Malwarebytes Firewall Control on my I7-4770 Windows 10 Home Premium 64 bit, I do not get any photos displayed when I login to my Twitter account. These are my photos, digital paintings, 3D renders I've uploaded. I do not see photos of other memebrs as well.

I can login to Twitter fine. However no photos or images display. I suspect it must be the cloud service that hosts photos for Twitter?

Again WFC is NOT stopping me from logging in. It just doesn't allow any images to be displayed. After logging in. If I turn WFC off everything is fine until the next time I login to twitter when WFC is on.

On Malwarebytes WFC I am using settings profiles Medium, Display notifications, rules Outbound (block). I do not have this issue with Facebook, flickr, zenfolio, instagram or any other website frequent. WFC is not blocking my access to my files shares on my Linux pc or Windows NAS. I can print to my wireless HP Printer.

    Port 80 & 443 are open.

I checked my hosts file and no entries were added to my hosts file after installing WFC.

Prior to installing WFC I did not have this issue. I also installed WFC to a 2nd computer I5-2500, Windows 10 Home Premium 64 bit. And I am having the same issue.

Twitter worked fine prior to install. After install I can login but photos do not display.

As well as two Windows 10 computers, I have an AMD 8320 running Windows 7 Home Premium. I have yet to install Malabytes WFC. As well as an Ubunto file server (Zorin 12). On Ubuntu I use the UFW/GUFW. I do not have this twitter issue on the Win 7 or Linux pc.

I suspect when I got a WFC notification about some ip trying to make an outbound connection, I must have blocked it. I did use IPVOID website to verify ip numbers as well as the various links IPVOID has to abuse lists, blocked lists to query if the ip number is listed.

PS: I meant to mention I am also using OpenDNS.

I'm using OpenDNS. All sites I use work 100%. It is only Twitter which is having a problem. I can login to Twitter. However the issue is NONE of my photos or digital illustration I've created display.

I can ping Twitter. Its happening. and it returns a reply. I can tracert Twitter. Its happening..

I am assuming I must be blocking the ip of the cloud service Twitter uses to host their images.

Also WFC is advising me that svchost is trying to connect subnets which belong to some company named Akamai. But I've found not connection between Twitter and Akamai.

If I disable the firewall, the issue goes away.

    Cheers

It's hard to say what is been blocked by Firewall best think to do is to reinstall the Firewall.

Using my Windows 7 computer which is only using the Windows firewall and twitter works fine, I went to my twitter account. Right clicking on render of a 3D model I created it displayed a url. The website that is hosting that image is pbs.twimg.com

From my Windows 7 computer I can ping pbs.twimg.com and nslookup returns an ip of 72.21.91.70

I can also ping it from my Ubuntu computer. But both of my Windows 10 computers fail. This is one of the ip numbers that was constantly querying my svchost.exe and I added a rule into my firewalls for it.

It's past midnight and tired from a long day at my computer and an evening of watching NHL playoffs. Will remove the rule in the morning.

    Cheers and thanks

Sorry, I hate to be rude. But you need to read what I've been posting and stop over complicating my issue. The only issue I'm having is with Twitter images. Everything else is working fine. So why would I want to reset everything?

Sometime when I ping pbs.twimg.com it returns ip - 151.101.248.159 and other times 72.21.91.70

If someone who has a twitter account could verify what ip and website hosts their images, I would be very grateful.

    Cheers & many thanks

Today I got an alert from Malwarebytes Windows Control Firewall that "Backgroundtransferhost.exe" was trying to connect via port 80 to 72.21.91.29

Poking around I found this at Abuseipdb.com

    72.21.91.29 | Verizon Communications Inc. | AbuseIPDB

I've also gotten alerts the svchost.exe and photos.exe have tried to connect to the same ip.

    Anyone else notice this?

Appears the subnet belongs to MCI Communications Verizon

In another forum a member posted the ip number is a dns server used for passive dns replication.

I poked around further on sites that post blocked ip numbers, servers and the project honey pot site. The subnet 72.21.91.0. It is indeed used for passive dns replication and should not be blocked. So I removed it from the firewall rules and Twitter now works as it should.
