    Hello sdowney717:

The above results of running the 5 stage chkdsk are extremely typical and can be regarded as well within acceptable norms. Absolutely no additional action is necessary in that specific area.

Since chkdsk is virtually without error, it may be of interest to run the following from an elevated command prompt:

    sfc /scannow

You will be pleased to know the run-time is considerably less than chkdsk but more than a few minutes.

    Cheers

    ok will do that.
I ran the online benchmark test.
the hard drive is performing extremely poorly compared with other users who have run this test and using I think the same hard drive.
So I wonder if this is software related or actual hard ware issues? I am concurrently performing a long test repair using sea tools for windows.
    look how bad it is.
    ideas?

On no account image a dodgy disk to a new disk as it may write dodgy things to the new drive plus you don't know what's wrong with windows. Download latest ISO free from ms and do a clean install

I have a usb drive with that on iso it, I think 1809 version, I used it to reinstall a win10 PRO, can it be used to install a win 10 home? She has home on here.

I agree its best, but she has som many programs on here. I will have to talk to her and see if she can reinstall all that stuff from the original sources. Seagate wrantee does not exist for the drive as they say it is OEM and covered with ASUS, how painful would that be to get a drive from ASUS? Like they need the whole laptop, or just the drive?

I would be concerned about re-installing any of her software before checking it is from a proper and safe site, given the amount of malware it had, may just get infected again.
