    I was just curious if people still used it that is all.

    At work 20 years ago I used WinZip, then WinRAR and IT would move us from one to the other based on price of license or what they had spare. There was a time (in the 90's) when we weren't allowed either without making a case to management justifying the reason - we would get WinRAR if some client had sent us info in that format or else WinZip as the company had loads of spare licenses.

    I wasn't saying WinRAR is bad software (I don't think it is) but I just wondered since a free (IMO better) alternative came along later I was wondering if or why people still used it.

    Sorry for taking the thread off track - it wasn't my intention at all.
