how to disable secure boot and be in legacy where I started

I have an Asus board z 390 and my builder set it to legacy. I am in UEFI.
I would like to enable secure boot w/o legacy and then go back to legacy with it disabled.
I have about exhausted help with Google, Asus etc.
If a clean install is not required can anyone ell me the steps to enable secure boot with legacy off, then how to disable secure boot and be in legacy where I started.
This would give me options and enhance my learning about the settings which I am trying to no avail to learn.
Please, and thank you so much

If someone comes across a way to disable secure boot without clearing keys, or if I do, it would be nice to have it posted here. Not holding breath though.
My board is Asus TUF Plus z390 Gaming WIFI but a similar newer board might suffice.
I will ask elsewhere although we should not double post s I need advertising on this one. :)

The answer depends on your Bios not on Windows.

I suggest you add your MB name and Bios maker, version to the thread title to attract the attention of those with the required specialist knowledge. Use the Edit post control underneath your initial post.

I also suggest you go back to Asus support & any user forums they host because those remain the most likely places for a solution to be provided.

    Best of luck,

Asus is really shy with help and it is contradictory. I will keep trying as you say though and thank you. I have placed the MB info in the subject of forums but this board is new even to the builder. I am going to ask him if I can bring the machine to him.

Fr4om a similar discussion I just had on another board, the only way to disable secure boot on that board is to clear keys as far as I see. ASUS was very unhelpful, one time saying yes, clear them, another no.

Basicly what you want to do is move your windows from UEFI GPT to legacy BIOS/MBR its possible the best way is to change your BIOS setting and clean install. You'll probably need to run Diskpart during the install to clean your disk/SSD so that you'll be able to see it as a Volume to install to. When you get to that step Press Shift + F10 that will bring up a cmd prompt run disk part from there.

    Diskpart
    list disk
select disk select the disk you want to install on
    Clean
    Exit

Your hard drive/SSD will now be a visible volume to install too.

or you can try this Convert GPT Disk to MBR Disk in Windows 10

Personally I think it would be foolish to revert to Legacy especially if your running SSD's

Also if you'll join the ROG forums your find actual help there User to User ASUS Republic of Gamers [ROG] | The Choice of Champions – Overclocking, PC Gaming, PC Modding, Support, Guides, Advice

    boot to non compatible stick

This is getting a bit confusing for my level so I am bringing the pc to the builder next Wed.

I am trying to be able to boot off of a non compatible stick without clearing keys. I did clear keys and perform a boot off a non compatible stick successfully but it is not advisable.

The builder feels enabling CSM will disable secure boot but when I tried, I encountered a drop down of choices.

Please see the attachment for a view of the choices. I am waiting to see him.
@Clint - I have been to the forum more than once but it seems geared to skilled users as the answers I got were not explanations but were more like clues that fly over the head of the average guy..
