Received a threat to sabotage my laptop unless I called a number

I was on Facebook and think I clicked on Like at something that a relative had posted. My screen went mostly red and I was given a telephone number to call or my computer would be useless. I had sense enough not to call the number but cannot get rid of the box in the middle of my screen that has the heading "security.php". I have run scans in Malwarebytes, Windows Defender, and Microsoft's security program and none of them detected anything. The number they gave me was **REMOVED**. I checked this number out and it appears that it is used for actual telephone calls. Nowhere did they mention what to do if it is on your computer. I had also used a hard shutdown but it is still there. Can someone tell me how to get things back to normal?

Restart the computer. Do not open any browser. Then try doing a disk cleanup using option 2 here:

The article here is fairly old but the author has updated some of the information:
How to Fix: Your Computer is Infected, Call This Number (Scam) | www.infopackets.com

Would go through and try some of the things he mentions to get rid of the problem.

Let us know if this helps.

Run CMD as admin and copy/paste code, then restart.
    Code:
    reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced" /v "HideIcons" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f
    reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ActiveDesktop" /v "NoAddingComponents" /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f
    reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ActiveDesktop" /v "NoComponents" /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f
    reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer" /v "ForceActiveDesktopOn" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f
    reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer" /v "NoActiveDesktop" /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f
    reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer" /v "NoActiveDesktopChanges" /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f
    reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer" /v "NoDesktop" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f

Try clicking "OK" or "Cancel", then quickly hitting the "ESC" key.

    Typical URL scam.

    1) Reboot and clear your browser settings. Then re-enable.
    2) Do not click on that link again. It's toxic.

Run another MBAM scan, if clear, you are done.

Yeah this is a typical scam....Follow the above instructions but the first thing you do is cut the head off the snake by making sure you are disconnected from the internet(As in unhook the RJ45 cord from your router to the computer)then restart then clear everything browser related and you should then be able to hook your internet cable back up.

When this happens don't click on anything. I always hold the power button in until the computer shuts down. After restarting I do a virus scan.
