Decrypting drive without keys is pretty much impossible.

They don't have keys. If there was a backdoor then people, bad people would also have access. Defeats the purpose.

With anything encrypted today you need to backup keys and then back them up again. Store them in multiple places.

    Check your onedrive.

For practical purposes if you do not have the keys you will not be able to access a bitlocker protected drive. If there was some simple way to bypass this security it would be all over the Internet and would be common knowledge among hackers. Bitlocker would be of little value. Many people have a need for encryption that is secure against knowledgeable and motivated individuals. Bitlocker was designed to meet that need.

All data you wish to keep should have at least 1 backup copy, 2 or more copies if the data is of particular value. Files on Bilocker are no exception. You just need to take appropriate precautions with the backup media.

Agreed. You should always keep multiple backups of your BitLocker recovery key at different locations.

Without it, you will lose all data on an encrypted drive.
