Could 'Sharex' be a malware threat? how to remove?

I discovered by accident an app that doesn't even exist in the program list, apparently it was a collaboration between MS and Sharex, apparently bundled without the consent of the user. It's ability to 'share' local documents and the likes via many means scared the daylight out of me. So I wondered :

1. Did anyone know of attempts /success using sharex maliciously? in other word , is it possible?

2. How to remove Sharex without installing a tool to do so?

Do you mean this? ShareX - Wikipedia

If there is no entry in Add/Remove Apps then navigate to the folder C:\Program Files\ShareX\

and look for C:\Program Files\ShareX\unins000.exe

Double-clicking should run an uninstaller and the program is gone.

You may also need to check Regedit to see if there are any keys and decide whether to manually remove or not (please backup the registry before making any changes).

Howdy Rubi, there is no ShareX directory in the program files folder, nor in the program files (x86) , seemingly MS (and other developers) hide core apps somewhere else. I did a search no exe related app to ShareX in a directory snuggled in documents, I tried to delete this sub-directory I got a message telling that the sub-directory is being used by another app.. that app is somewhere hidden by MS and ShareX! Yes the registry is an other option to look up, I hoped this anomaly was dealt with by someone that found an easy fix for it..still hoping. But all in all Rubi I appreciate the effort.

Could it be the Store, (UWP), version of the app?
If so, right click and uninstall it from the Start Menu.

On another note, I downloaded the installer from the developer's website and then checked it on VirusTotal; 100% clean for results there.

That does not mean to say there might not be other malicious activity but I was not able to find anything specific with searches.

Let's hope Edwin's solution works.

I am certain MS knew that there is no embedded intended maleware, what I was saying, if there is a possibility that Sharex can be used by a hacker to purposely get private data from where Sharex resides. Besides even if I get a 300% assurance the app is safe, personally I wouldn't have any vital use of it, so it's more reassuring to shot the door closed than to lose sleep. Currently use a screen capture app that doesn't embed the function "Share", and happy and content.

ShareX - Virus and Malware

Pretty sure Microsoft would not include the product on their store if it was a risk.
But then again, if you download from mirrored or none reputable sites and don't the check hash keys, the executable could have been tampered with and could contain malware etc. Same as any software really.
