This is *NOT* malware, it's *NOT* a Trojan, it's *NOT* a virus, it's not anything except a cleverly crafted web page that uses javascript to prevent itself from being closed. That's all it is. thus finding a way to close the page and not re-open it clears up the problem because there is no actual virus on your computer.

There are new scam pages for each new attempt! The bomb I was pointing to had a fake Microsoft Security Essentials GUI on it and the Bogus Windows Process Doctor bomb shell dropped in user account sub folder that prevented you from ending the process when not able to call up the task manager! The four trojans the fake program warned about were suspicious enough for any av program to clean up but did nothing. The scam was the message you "had to buy" the program to see the trojans removed! The gimic was to kidnap your machine forcing you to pay out for a non existant fakeware. Same ripoff artists with a new game to fall for!

To clear Edge history, from inside of Edge:

On upper right click on hamburger menu (three stacked lines symbol).

Click on Clock symbol. Click Clear All History.

A side menu comes up with various clearing options. Select the clearing options and press Clear.

That's a good one! It won't be found in the Advanced settings but simply click on the first button over on the right side that also sees short horizontal lines.



The yellow marks point to the button used to open up the screen and the Clear history option to delete the browsing history in one shot. You won't find a lot of the usual IE setting but will find the "always allow cookies" and other option on the second screen in the Advanced settings there towards the bottom half as you scroll down. 10 uses a lot of the on'off type switches for seeing any setting changes made in just about everything but the classic Control Panel itself.

The next menu has four selections, and it remembers what you selected last time. So Clear All History
may not be visible without clicking on the Clock symbol.

Get some web filtering on that will block Bogey pages! The av programs that provide effective web filtering also block a great deal of the scum wares as well as malwares out there! The Crawler Security toolbar was an old IE addon toolbar that offered some protection while the two av softwares seen for this are VIPRE Internet Security 2015 presently available for a 30 day trial and Norton's Internet Security!

These softwares include firewall protection which features the web filtering If you want something long term. For the short time however the Crawler annoyance tool bar should help a bit while nothing you will want to keep on forever! It works for IE as well as Firefox while I ran it on Opera when still using the 32bit other browsers. Crawler.com - Products
