Hitmanpro.alert, latest update slowing down computer?

    Hi!

I've noticed that my laptop's functions seem quite bogged down for about a week or so. Just everything slow to open, programs slow to execute, whether it's a browser or Outlook or even a folder in Explorer. I have had to click more than once with the mouse to get anything to execute, it's just not normal behaviour. I am trying to figure out if it is related to the latest update of HitmanPro Alert, which I think is about the time this started. Does anyone here use this product? Any issues? I've turned it off for now to see if that helps, and so far the laptop is behaving properly.

This is 3.7.9, build 771 of HitmanPro Alert.

I am using Windows Defender and no other real time monitoring besides HitmanPro Alert.

Are you running both all the time? running 2 will slow the pc to a crawl and may not work as they will fight against each other

Yes. It was my understanding that HitmanPro Alert could run alongside other security software. I turned it back on and the computer is performing OK right now. When I first posted, it was just really sluggish. When I turned off HPA, things perked up, and when I turned HPA back on, functioning continued to be OK. I was looking at what HPA does, and it's quite a list. Maybe it is conflicting with Windows Defender. I am looking at HitmanPro Alert's support page, and it says you do not need to install an antivirus software with build 723 and up. My version is 771. That's news to me. I'll drop their support a quick note and ask if this might be the problem. I'm not going to drop Windows Defender. If something has to go, it's going to be HitmanPro Alert.

I'm just going to add a list of what protection HitmanPro Alert provides:
Antimalware (doesn't specify, just says protection against malware files)
Exploit mitigation re browsers, MS Office apps, iTunes, Adobe Acrobat
    Browser protection
    Cryptoguard
    Credential theft--password dumping
    Process protection
    Webcam notifier
    Keystroke encryption
    Vaccination--sandbox-aware malware
    Bad USP--malicious USB devices

Sounds like this might conflict with Windows Defender, but I don't know how Defender stacks up against this list as far as protection goes. The greatest risk this laptop probably ever would face is landing on a web page that has some malicious script. I would consider my spouse and myself to be low risk internet users, but once in a while in a search for something, we might land on a bad page. It has happened in the past, actually a long time ago, and Malwarebytes caught that. (I have, for reasons I don't want to get into right now, lost my liking for Malwarebytes, so I don't want it running in real time anymore.)

Update: I am in contact with HitmanPro Alert support. I was told that HitmanPro Alert is meant to run alongside Windows Defender. We are going to be doing some selective troubleshooting with various components of HitmanPro Alert, which can be individually disabled. I would still like to keep the program because it has some features I want to keep.
