Should I ditch antivirus and just use Windows Defender?

    I left only Defender on my parents PC and came back to lots of malware on it... Defender doesn't seem to block everything.

    I put Malwarebytes on instead. 40+ blocked stuff so far.

    99% infections come either via an email (30%) or via a browser (70%), focuse your defenses there.
    As for emails, opening emails in plain txt, blocking attachments and externals links/images is the start.
    As for browsers, try some extensions, which block malicious links/phishing, it is like using a secondary AV.

    Some DNS protection, filtering malicious domains, would not hurt either:
