    I haven’t got another firewall message since using that fix. Maybe you are doing something wrong.

    This fix worked like a charm, the first one not.

    That’s the exact same fix just as a reg file.

    It's not the same fix, the registry key is different:

    1)

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender Security Center\Notifications
    "DisableNotifications"=dword:00000001
    "DisableEnhancedNotifications"=dword:00000001

    2)

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Defender Security Center\Notifications]
    "DisableNotifications"=dword:00000001
    "DisableEnhancedNotifications"=dword:00000001

    As I told you before, the first fix did not work in my computer at least.

    Hello Max,

    I have updated options 3 and 4 in the tutorial below to include both registry locations in your post now to help.

    Good @Brink, to cover all bases

    Just something I think we need to bear in mind...

    Source: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/pre...dtechnet.10%29

    Yup it's an old article but Windows was really cool in those days...well, as long as it supports my point.anyway

    The interesting stuff I think are:

    The Policies subkey contains entries that store Group Policy settings.

    Many of the entries in the Policies subkeys have counterparts in other registry subkeys. These counterparts, known as preferences have the same effect on user or computer features as entries in the Policies subkey. However, when an entry appears in the Policies subkey, the preference is almost always ignored.

    Do not use a registry editor to change the values in this subkey. If you do, they will be overwritten the next time the policies are refreshed.
    Whether this still applies, I dunno...just something to bear in mind, particularly how non-GPO versions will be affected.

    A better solution?

    Hi all,

    Signed up so I can reply to this post. I struggled through this problem for a LONG time, including the Windows Security Centre icon with a red cross that will not go away. After searching various forums and trying all the options (including here), I never found a satisfactory solution - until now.

    My findings are that if you disable the firewall in Security Centre, you will be hounded to turn it back on. By using a local GPO to disable the firewall, there are no warnings or popups.

    Solution

    1. In Windows Security, enable the firewall for all network profiles. Ensure the security centre shield shows a green tick. Do not proceed until security centre is happy.
    2. Run gpedit.msc to open local security policy editor as administrator.
    3. Navigate to Computer Configuration, Windows Settings, Security Settings, Windows Firewall with Advanced Security.
    4. Under Overview, click "Windows Defender Firewall Properties".
    5. For each of the required profiles, set Firewall state to "Off".

    In my case there was no need to restart Windows. The "Windows Security" shield should be green. Click it to verify that "Firewall and network protection" is green. Click Firewall... to verify that all network zones show a green tick with Firewall is off.

    @earto, That solution will only work with Windows 10 Professional or Enterprise. Not with Home and similar versions.

    Does anybody know how to fix the unwanted firewall notifications by creating a new user account?

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Started experiencing unwanted firewall notifications with Win 10 Build 1803 and continue to experience the same problem with Build 1903. Some of you may want to use two or three firewalls; I do not. The wireless router firewall is sufficient (though please note 2 out 3 machines are connected by CAT-6 ethernet cable).

    Early in 2019, I used a registry modification (taken from tenforums.com) to disable all security notifications. It worked.

    A little later after having to go the clean-install in order to upgrade one machine to Build 1803, that machine started spitting out the firewall notifications.

    I called up Microsoft for help. Many hours and many tries later, I stumbled across a woman who got me to create an additional and through that process fix the account that was issuing the undesired notices. It worked. Except, the telephone line was bad and I did not take as many notes as I should have.

    Then I did a clean re-install for all 3 PC workstations for Build 1903. Tedious but the results worked until I committed the serious sin of playing with local LAN settings. The firewall notifications came back on all three machines.

    I called Microsoft again. The technician quickly gave up and suggested I nuke all security notices.

    I would prefer to solve this problem by "fixing" the user accounts but will eventually disable all security alerts in the registry if I have to. Suggestions?

    At the same time, if you have any idea why Microsoft has not solved this issue, I would like to hear it.

    Huh!?!!

    tenforums.com just automatically merged my two posts?

    How did that happen and why did it not show up in the preview?
