LOL... Yup, gonna give Comodo and ZoneAlarm a bash...
I've tested ZoneAlarm free (not paid) and I didn't understand the reason of its existence. Perhaps, I'm not so clever...

Comodo firewall, on the other hand, is a serious almost professional free app, covering all users from novices to advanced, BUT you have to be careful if you are going to upgrade to new Win version (1809). You have to uninstall it because Win upgrade (not updates) fails. The same happens with MCT too. It's impossible to upgrade or create an .iso or USB media.

Unfortunately, Comodo-only-Firewall is not a pure firewall app. It contains some AV parts like Hips, VirusScope etc. which are not bad and you can disable them, but sometimes cause problems as I've mentioned above, actually as many AV apps used to.

A few days before, Comodo firewall had a program update which perhaps resolves Win upgrade problem. I'm already on 1809 and I couldn't test it again.

Comodo and Zone Alarm are the only firewalls able to catch processes trying to connect to internet by hijacking other processes. Zone Alarm is easier to use compared to Comodo, though not so configurable.

Thanx guys... running Comodo now and all's well... (thus far.)

BTW it's quite enlightening the processes that pop-up trying to connect when in custom mode.

    You're very welcome!

I think, if you learn what you can do with its different warning levels and all the other options, you will be...its slave

I was going to give the Comodo firewall a try but note it wants to install the Dragon browser. I don't approve of such software which gives me no choice to decline unneeded third party software. Is there a way around this?

Once you click on Agree, you can un-check it.
