My Personal Review of Windows Defender Performance on Windows 10 1803

My Personal Review of Windows Defender is as follows, a little too slow on scans for my tastes, 8-12 hours for one full scan is ridicoulus on both Intel I7 7700 based Desktop and Laptop, Both have SSD boot drives, and hopefully fast enough storage drive, Upgrading storage drive asap here on Desktop with Western Digital Black Drive for more performance

For now sticks with Avast Free maybe til 1809 Clean install, then maybe gives Defender one more shot

I'd restore a system image now and retry it possibly, but seems everytime i restore system image end up stuck on Windows 10 Home on the Desktop, guess picks it up from bios key or something, last time i restored image ended up having to clean install second time to get back to Pro edition

    Anyways my personal opinion

Restoring a system image should not take any notice of a bios key, only Setup does that for a clean install. You should get whatever is in the image, Home or Pro. Are you sure the image is actually Pro?

Next time, just upgrade from Home to Pro by changing the key to the generic Pro key. As you already have a digital licence for Pro you can do this, see note 3 in this screenshot...

Sure It's Actually Pro on the Desktop, Will Keep that in mind on the generic key aspect. Will update the image after 1809 clean install, and hopefully goes well after that if i ever need to restore it, right now just gonna stay where at on 1803, and once 1809 out--clean install, then new image, then i think will be fine

The upgrade from Home to Pro with the generic works fine as long as you already have a digital licence for Pro.

My most recent machine has a bios key for W8.1 Home. I clean installed 1803 Home which activated, then went about configuring it to my needs. Later I bought Pro for it.

Rather than have to set it up all over again I took a system image of my Home install, then did a clean install of Pro to register a digital licence. Then I restored the Home image and upgraded it to Pro with the generic key.

Yeah well i'll get it sorted properly in future edition, no real use sorting i guess now, with less than possibly a month to next version

As for Laptop PC, Some Reason avast only gets to 30 percent on full scan, then seems to stop there, don't think infected, as i hardly do much other than gaming on it, and sometimes watch videos with Microsoft Movies & Tv app, most of the site visiting and other stuff is done on Desktop PC

Should i attempt Fresh Start type refresh on Laptop tomorrow that should fully get rid of Avast leftovers right? or should i wait til 1809 is final, upgrade to that, then do that?
