New AVAST 18.6.3983.0 even more bloated than before

After downloading latest AVAST yesterday it seems it now includes a DRIVER UPDATER...

I am using Windows Defender since yesterday. AVAST was doing weird things while I was playing fullscreen (stealing window focus).

Avast free? Just noted an update pending..

Presumably you can ignore the DU.

Yes. It can be ignored. I always use custom installation.

Yeah i usually ignore Driver Updater, and all the Pay stuff, and just use File Shield, Web shield, behavior shield and Mail shield on all the Avast Protected machines in the household

I find the update blocks ONLY my gmail pop3 access. All other email servers are ok; if I disable Avast shields, gmail is ok. Was fine before the update.

Had to disable scan SSL connections to allow gmail to rx mail again.

It's really a shame. AVAST was pretty solid at one point.

I still think myself Avast is solid program, been using it for ohhh since 2006! I just do custom install and not enable the extra stuff

Fortunately following Avast forum's recommendation, I repaired Avast, and no problems with gmail/pop3/SSL.

I first started using Avast in 06 also though the past few years I've switched to Windows Defender.

Yeah i may make full switch to Defender when Windows 10 Version 1809 releases, not that great at restoring system images, last time i tried on this Desktop, couldn't even get back to Windows 10 Pro, so might just wait til i do clean install for 1809, then stick with Defender, and install only what i really use daily
