    @Wiley Coyote Keep us posted. I'm curious to see if this actually stops the midnight data thief.

    Hi, Eagle51. So far so good. Disabling the Windows Defender verification scheduled task worked. The Defender definition was updated on 08/24 but no Windows Module Installer was added to System Restore points. Did it on 2 computers, 1 Desktop and 1 Laptop. We'll have to wait until Windows Defender platform is updated (usually at the end of the month or the beginning of the next month) to see if Microsoft took care of the issue. If not will just disable Windows Defender verification scheduled task again. Seems like a good workaround.

    Haven't heard from @Mcd73165 in couple days, so can only assume this is still working :)

    Apparently 50 is the limit. Looking at the dates, the older ones are removed and only the most recent 50 show.
    Got another WD update this afternoon and the oldest one from July was deleted in the update history. Still no new restore point.

    @Eagle51

    I can't find the Windows Defender Verification Scheduled task in my Windows 10 Pro and looked about everywhere. Got this PC just on July 14 and am lost! Would you please help me in finding that task? TIA

    The 4 default WD Task are in Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > Windows Defender

    Thank you Eagle 51. Found where WD is but have no idea how or what to do next! Sad..... guess I will leave as is then.

    To disable the WD Verification Task, just right click on it and disable :)

    I did disable the verification task and so far no more Restore Points. Anxious to see what today brings.

    Hi, Eagle51. I did make another reply but maybe it was to a different thread. Anyhow there have been no Windows Module Installer SR points and have found no issues with the disabling of the WD verification task. Good luck with this workaround to everyone and thanks again Eagle51 for originally pointing me in the direction of the cause of the issue.
