Sounds good ... Hopefully the WD Verification Task won't get enabled on the next run or have any unintended side affects. I'd be surprised if the monthly WD Platforum update didn't re-enable it. Since I'm seeing the same WD/WMI behavior on Win10 Pro Insiders Preview (fast ring), I doubt they will fix/undo this change anytime soon ... one can only hope :)Hi, Eagle51. So far so good. Disabling the Windows Defender verification scheduled task worked. The Defender definition was updated on 08/24 but no Windows Module Installer was added to System Restore points. Did it on 2 computers, 1 Desktop and 1 Laptop. We'll have to wait until Windows Defender platform is updated (usually at the end of the month or the beginning of the next month) to see if Microsoft took care of the issue. If not will just disable Windows Defender verification scheduled task again. Seems like a good workaround.
WD Contiues to create a restore point on a daily basis. I know it's not the regular daily WD updates that are creating the restore points. Whatever MS are doing with the daily Windows Module Installer is baffling, I just accept it now and delete them once a week, create a manual restore and the cycle of confusion initiates. There have been many user complaints but, as usual, Mum's the word with MS. I don't think MS know what the have unleashed or how to stop it.

Disabled the WD Verification Task and have two WD updates with no restore points created.
Quick clarification. In my "Update History" I show a WD update KB2267602 (Definition 1.275.182.0) for 08/26/18. The number of "Definition Updates" is stuck on 50. Is this the limit it will show?
Apparently 50 is the limit. Looking at the dates, the older ones are removed and only the most recent 50 show.
Thanks, WC, for the confirmation.
The WD verification task disabling definitely works with no apparent side effects..I too suspect that the task will be enabled again after the next WD platform update in which case will have to disable it again. Thanks again Eagle51 for originally directing me to the source of this problem.
